  19. I used to have a Sportster Vi and seen similar behavior.  If you're running 
  20. Windows 95 try disabling the FIFO buffer in the modem properties.  I don't 
  21. know why but my modem would hardly transfer at all until I did this.  Another 
  22. thing is to try setting your DTE speed to 57600.  My transfers were pretty 
  23. spurious until I changed this setting.  Again I don't know why but I know that 
  24. it helped.  Good luck.
